Dior have done it. They have sacked Galliano. OH MY GOD!
Dior have cut ties with the designer following his racist outburst last week. They had suspended him following the accusations but decided to cut ties after viewing the video footage showing a drunk Galliano verbally abusing people in a cafe in Paris. The footage was released by the Sun newspaper.
“I very firmly condemn what was said by John Galliano, which totally contradicts the values which have always been defended by Christian Dior,” Christian Dior Chief Executive Sidney Toledano said in a statement.
Natalie Portman has also released a statement condemning the actions of Galliano. The actress, who is Jewish, decided to wear Rodarte minutes before the Oscars. Refusing to wear her Dior dress in protest. She also stated that she is cutting all ties with the house while Galliano is still in employment there.
In an added twist, more employees, people and general fashion heads have come forward to say they too were a victim of Galliano's racist remarks.
Apparently this has been going on for sometime. The fashion crowd will stand by and support many of their own when scandal errupts. But there is no coming back from this. Racism is a horrible and disgusting thing and rightly so he was fired. It is a shame that it all had to go this way. Dior were right. They couldn't stand behind him any longer.
